Keep track of your macros

MyRealFood is a freemium health and fitness application where you can find thousands of healthy recipes to help you stay on track with your fitness goals. You can obtain a meal plan from a certified dietitian by subscribing to the service, as well.

Similar to MyFitnessPal, MyRealFood also allows you to track your calories so you can meet a certain goal per day or cut down on your macros. Both apps also feature a helpful scanner that you can use on ready-made meals or packaged food to track their calories in a much quicker manner.

Healthy meals to meet your fitness goals

As previously mentioned, MyRealFood allows users to track their meals in order to keep an eye on the macronutrients they consume, such as the amount of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. You can even save meals you eat quite often to your favorites so you can easily track them when you need to. With the app’s built-in scanner, you can also pull nutritional information to add to your tracker, as well.

Users that have subscribed to the app’s premium plan can also obtain a dedicated meal plan that they can curate to suit their nutritional needs and fitness goals. You can easily access the recipes for each meal recommended by the dietitian right from the app, as well. To help you prep for all these meals, you can even check all the ingredients needed and add them to your grocery list.

In order to stay motivated, users also have the ability to share photos and videos of their meals and interact with a large community of users who also share similar goals. One notable downside of the app, however, is that adding a meal not available in the database can be difficult, seeing as it will either take time before it appears in your tracker or won’t be added at all.

Great but needs a few tweaks

MyRealFood offers users an easy and convenient way to keep track of any diet plans they’re following or simply make sure they’re getting all the nutrients they need with their meals. While it can be tricky adding new meals to the database, it still offers a number of other great features — such as access to specialized meal plans and a complete grocery list — that make it worth trying out.

PROS

  • Tracks all your macronutrients
  • Has a built-in scanner for packed food
  • Access to meal plans from registered dietitians
  • Lists down all ingredients in a grocery shopping list

CONS

  • Difficult to add new meals to the database
